I would like to share my great experience with Cyclops, who helped us install solar panels. From the first contact it was clear that Cyclops is a professional and customer-focused company. In het engineerinsdepartement van Umicore Hoboken wilden we een project management methodologie uitrollen om de project managers meer handvaten en achtergrond te bieden en het project werk gestroomlijnder te laten lopen. Er is gekozen hiervoor met Cyclops samen te werken, omdat zij de goede combinatie bezitten tussen PMP methodologie en ervaring met industriële projecten. Samen met Quentin zijn we aan de slag gegaan om een project roadmap op te stellen. Daarna hebben we trainingen gemaakt van de verschillende knowledge areas. We konden steunen op bestaande trainingen en templates van Cyclops en slaagden er in steeds een gepersonaliseerde Umicore saus over te gieten. Zo spraken de trainingen al mijn collega’s aan. De laatste topics waren niet meer verplicht en toch zat de zaal vol, dat zegt genoeg. Ondertussen vragen ook andere BU’s naar hetgeen we samen gemaakt hebben.

At the engineering department of Umicore Hoboken we wanted to roll out a project management methodology to provide the project managers with more tools and background and to make their project work more streamlined. We chose Cyclops to assist us with this assignment, because they have the right combination of PMP methodology and experience with industrial projects. Together with Cyclops’ project manager Quentin, we started working on a project roadmap. Then we created training courses for the different knowledge areas. We were able to rely on existing training courses and templates from Cyclops and combined these with the Umicore approach and style. In this way, the training courses appealed to all my colleagues. The last training topics were no longer mandatory and yet the training room was full; this proves the success of our approach. In the meantime, other Business Units are also asking questions about what we created together.

Cyclops heeft erg veel energie gestoken in het begrijpen welke nood we precies hadden. Ze zijn er in geslaagd – middels het aanreiken van de perfecte ingenieur voor deze job – deze nood te lenigen. Het is duidelijk dat de ingenieurs bij Cyclops erg goed begeleid, getraind en gecast worden. Cyclops has been working for several years for ArcelorMittal Belgium to reinforce the local engineering department. At very short notice they have acquired knowledge and understanding of our complex production process. I however see their added value in a rare combination of two aspects. On the one hand their engineers and project managers have a very high level of knowledge in project management, the tools and methodologies. Cyclops achieves to combine this with a recruitment process that ensures then of a team of very enthusiastic, interested, open minded and flexible collaborators. This unique combination allows them to distinct from competitors and is a sound basis for a fruitful collaboration

Investing in sustainable chemistry has many obstacles, but the challenges of the permitting process and derisking the construction phase are notoriously difficult. Just as we noticed our timelines were drifting and our grip on the project was slipping through our fingers, Cyclops came in to help take back control and accelerate things. This resulted in a building and environmental permit for a chemical recycling activity in record time. What I appreciate most however is the flexible, personal and connecting attitude Cyclops has demonstrated over the last years. Despite the different mail address, we are one team.
