Cyclops is proud to celebrate the ongoing construction of HyOffwind, Belgium’s first industrial-scale green hydrogen plant, developed in partnership with Virya Energy. The facility, powered by an initial 25 MW electrolyser (with scalability to 100 MW), will convert renewable energy into green hydrogen, targeting 25,000 ton CO₂ savings per year.

Cyclops’ impact from day one
Since September 2023, Cyclops’ dedicated Project Manager has been embedded within the project, reporting directly to Virya Energy’s CTO. From the earliest concept engineering phase and through to the Final Investment Decision in July 2024 Cyclops managed complex engineering preparations aligning technical partners, securing permits, and coordinating stakeholder engagement.
Now fully into construction, Cyclops continues to:
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, ensuring seamless integration across John Cockerill, BESIX, Messer, and other key EPC partners
- Manage interfaces from mechanical construction through to commissioning logistics and site activation
- Orchestrate the handover to operations teams, aligning commissioning schedules with Virya Energy’s operational roadmap
This integrated coordination ensures the project stays on time for commissioning in 2026, while safeguarding quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
A turning point for energy transition
HyOffwind isn’t just another plant, it’s a foundational hub in Zeebrugge’s emerging hydrogen ecosystem, bridging offshore wind energy, industrial users, mobility (e.g., the adjacent Aers Energy H₂ fuelling station), and pipeline infrastructure
Cyclops’ embedded Project Management is ensuring this ecosystem connects effectively – from early design to operations – to help meet Belgium’s cleanenergy ambitions. stry.
